In the winter it will be hard to decide between a day of skiing or snowboarding. But wait! There is also snowmobiling, sledding, and fat tire biking. How will you choose? The complimentary town bus is a ten minute ride to the mountain, the bus stop is located steps away from the hotel. If you prefer ski valet front door service we have negotiated pick up and drop off rates with Black Canyon Limousine for luxury transportation to and from the mountain.
The summer brings golden light and crisp, warm days. Our favorite activities in the summer include hiking and biking. But there’s also fly fishing, stand up paddle boarding, and horseback riding, to name a few.
Whichever activity you choose, make a reservation as soon you can because dates and times get booked quickly in this small town.
CRESTED BUTTE MOUNTAIN RESORT
CBMR has 15 lifts and 121 trails on 1,547 skiable acres. On average, terrain is 26% beginner, 57% intermediate, and 17% advanced/expert. The adult and children’s ski school is one of the best in the country.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING/SNOW SHOEING/ICE SKATING
Every year the Crested Butte Nordic Center grooms 50 kilometers of trails in the upper Gunnison Valley. With in-town access, beautiful views and trails that are groomed to immaculate standards, it’s hard to beat the Crested Butte Nordic Center trail system for convenience and fun. A full ice arena is available for ice skating at the Nordic Center. Skates are available to rent inside. Head over to the sled hill after skating for extra fun.
SNOWMOBILING
Crested Butte has some of the most spectacular backcountry scenery in all of the Rocky Mountains. Whether you’re a first-time rider, or an experienced snowmobiler seeking the ride of a lifetime, Action Adventures offers an unmatched variety of tours and snowmobile rentals to guests of all experience and ability levels. Their ski school is one of the best in the country.
FAT TIRE BIKING
The ultra-wide bike tires on Fat Bikes disperse pressure so that you can easily travel over snow. Fat biking is a great winter activity. With an already plush Nordic trail system in place, there are many Crested Butte winter fat biking trails available.
SPA SERVICES
A local spa is walking distance from the hotel. This spa is a beautiful place to shop and enjoy an afternoon of facials and massages.

The Gunnison Valley is filled with gorgeous hiking trails from beginner to advanced.
MOUNTAIN BIKING
Crested Butte has a plethora of single track trails that range from beginner to expert.
ELECTRIC BIKING
Rent an electric bike from one of the local bike shops and be guaranteed an awesome day to remember. Pack your lunch and take the bike from town to Gothic, Kebler, Irwin… the possibilities are endless!
DOWNHILL MOUNTAIN BIKING
The Evolution Bike Park at Crested Butte Mountain Resort features lift-served mountain biking trails for all levels. Covering more than 30 miles of single track, the bike park provides an exhilarating and scenic experience.
BIKE AND SKATE PARK
Located next to the Nordic Center you will find the Big Mine Skatepark. The Skatepark features a street course, a deep 9’ bowl, two small 6′ bowls, and a 2′ mini bowl, providing challenges for all skater levels. The skatepark allows bikers and skaters.
Also, south of the Crested Butte Community School there is a bike park that is for all levels of enthusiasts.
FLY FISHING
Whether it is float, wade, dry, or lake fishing, the Crested Butte area is one of the best places in the world to cast your line. Professional guides can provide local knowledge, current river conditions, transportation, guided trips, and more. Fishing permits can be purchased at local fly shops or in advance online.
STAND UP PADDLE BOARDING
There are many options for paddle boarding. Floats in calm, local lakes—like Irwin, Lost Lakes, and Spring Creek Reservoir—are a great option for the entire family.
HORSEBACK RIDING
Fantasy Ranch offers a variety of horseback riding through the mountains and valleys of the Colorado back-country. Their specialty is trail rides on Snodgrass Mountain from their stables in Mt. Crested Butte.
